| Welcome to the website of Al-Anon Family Groups of Berkshire County in Western Massachusetts. We appreciate the courage it may have taken you to search for us on the web. As our Suggested Preamble to the Twelve Steps reads:
"The Al-Anon Family Groups are a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength, and hope in order to solve their common problems. We believe alcoholism is a family illness and that changed attitudes can aid recovery."
We have meetings every day in Berkshire County, from Sheffield in the south to Williamstown and Adams in the north. Pittsfield, Great Barrington, Stockbridge, and Egremont also have active meetings. If you have never been to an Al-Anon meeting, you may want to attend our special Newcomers' meetings. We also have Alateen meetings for teenagers, ages 13 to 19, whose lives have been affected by someone who drinks. Two adult sponsors with strong Al-Anon backgrounds attend this weekly meeting.
The remainder of Al-Anon's preamble reads:
"Al-Anon is not allied with any sect, denomination, political entity, organization, or institution; does not engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any cause. There are no dues for membership. Al-Anon is self-supporting through its own voluntary contributions. Al-Anon has but one purpose: to help families of alcoholics. We do this by practicing the Twelve Steps, by welcoming and giving comfort to families of alcoholics, and by giving understanding and encouragement to the alcoholic."
We look forward to seeing you.
